Fading Rainbows

Few days back Shoojit Sircar requested authorities to urgently ban reality shows involving children. It’s about time someone raised this issue. It pains my heart to see little ones being coaxed by their parents to do such shows. Sometimes they don’t even know what they are talking about and they just parrot the lines being taught to them. At times, they are made to imitate adults in a vulgar way, leaving some bad imprints on their innocent mind.

One Australian study revealed that children who watched reality programs were more likely to associate wealth, popularity and beauty as factors that contribute to happiness.

Late working hours, emotional stress, physical fatigue and lack of normal healthy lifestyle are some of the consequences of kids reality show. Isn’t it just like child labor? There is an added pressure and sense of rejection when things don’t work out. In the garb of bringing the best talents amongst little ones in the limelight, production houses are running a profitable business.

It seems some parents are making their kids robots to this idea, murdering their innocence. Parents want to live their own dreams through their children and doing so they cross all limits and unknowingly harm their natural emotional growth.

There is a humble request to such parents – please let your little ones explore the world, run after the butterflies, jump in the puddles, dance in the rain, mess up their faces while eating, gaze at the stars, collect precious pebbles, let them laugh and cry when they want to, not when the camera rolls in. Let them colour their dreams. Let the mountains echo with their laughter… Let them just be…

    So well said Param !
We are committing a sin by conditioning their brains and restricting their creativity . We want real unique individuals not factory pieces !
